What a guarantee of payment actually is
A Guarantee of Payment (GOP) is a formal written commitment — issued by EGS on behalf of the insurer, TPA or assistance company — telling a hospital or clinic that the cost of a defined treatment, up to a stated limit and for a stated period, will be paid directly. It is the mechanism behind every "cashless" admission: the provider treats the patient and invoices us, and the member never reaches for a credit card.
Done badly, a GOP is a bottleneck: hospitals wait, members are asked for deposits, and claims arrive months later full of surprises. Done well, it is invisible. Our GOP desk is built to make it invisible.
How a GOP works with EGS
Intake & policy verification
We capture the member, policy, provider and diagnosis on the first call, then verify coverage, limits, exclusions and pre-existing-condition clauses with the insurer or TPA.
Medical review & cost estimate
Our medical team validates that the proposed treatment is necessary and appropriate, and negotiates the provider's estimate against network rates.
GOP issued to the provider
A formal GOP — with covered services, financial limit, validity period and billing instructions — is transmitted directly to the hospital. Treatment proceeds cashless.
Monitoring & extensions
Daily clinical updates from the treating team. If the stay or treatment changes, the GOP is extended or amended before the provider has to ask.
Invoice audit & settlement
Every invoice is reconciled against the GOP and the clinical record — line by line — before settlement. Discrepancies are resolved with the provider, not passed to the insurer.
